Erik Chavez, PhD
Erik is a Research Fellow at the Brevan Howard Centre for Financial Analysis at the Finance Department of Imperial College Business School and visiting scientist at the Laboratory of Dynamic Meteorology of the Ecole Polytechnique (Paris). His research activity focuses on climate dynamics and the study of biogeochemical drivers of potential non-linearities, as well as risk modelling focused on the characterization of features of hydrometeorological variability impacting diverse sectors of the economy such as agriculture and on the development of risk transfer mechanism in low-income countries in the agriculture sector. He has worked for 6 years as a short-term consultant of the Agricultural Risk Management Team at the World Bank. He has been the Principal Investigator of three European Union-funded projects totalling 4.7m Euros. His research has been published in peer reviewed journals in climate sciences, risk analysis, and finance. He completed his Ph.D. in climate dynamics and economics between Imperial College London and the ENS Paris (Ecole Normale Supérieure).
